Product Information

How many products does IA offer?

We offer a number of products with various options. With all of the color, glass and design options, it’s difficult to put a number on the products we build. We do like to say that if you can design it, we can build it.

Are these commercial or residential products?

We manufacture products for residential and commercial applications.

What is the timeline for these products? Does it matter what state I am in?

Our goal is to have your door built and ready for installation within 6 weeks of your final approval of the drawing and all of your choices have been finalized.

Which doors provide the most security?

Iron doors provide the most security, compared to wooden or fiberglass doors. Iron is a much stronger material than either wood or fiberglass. Iron also doesn’t warp, which wood doors can do, especially when subjected to sun/rain.

Are glass walls and doors safe?

Yes. We build these using 12 gauge steel tube and other materials. The glass is tempered, which is the safest type of glass to use in this application.

Why shouldn't I buy a wooden door?

Iron is a much better material for entryways than wood. If your concerns are security, durability and increased value for your home, a custom door from Ironworks America is a better choice than a typical wood door.

Does IA make furniture?

Unfortunately, we do not make furniture.

Quality & Care

What materials are my job made out of?

We use 11 and 12 gauge steel to build your door.  We typically use ¼ or ⅜ inch clear glass, but offer insulated and tinted laminate glass as well.

How heavy are IA's doors & windows?

Our doors can weigh between 200 and 400 pounds, depending on the scrolls selected and overall size of the door.

Will my iron product rust?

If your door is scratched or has a section where the coating has worn down, you could experience some rust. Our service team is available to help you maintain the door, whether it’s a lock or paint issue.

Are your products high quality?

Yes, extremely high quality. Unlike other door companies who outsource their manufacturing to China, we manufacture all our products in the US at our Mississippi manufacturing facility. For comparison, our doors are often 1/2-1" thicker than our competitors. We use the highest grade 12 gauge steel, while most of our competitors use 14 gauge. 12 gauge steel is 30% thicker than 14 gauge.

How does IA compare to competitors?

We are one of the only iron door manufacturers to build everything in our own factory. Our competitors are typically importing doors from Mexico or China and installing them as custom doors. Our doors are 100% custom made in our Mississippi factory.

Where are your products made?

We manufacture all our products in the US at our Mississippi manufacturing facility.

What maintenance do Iron doors require?
  • Regular cleaning and maintenance are key to maintaining your iron door. Humid climates, especially those in coastal regions where saltwater is in the air, will require more frequent cleaning and maintenance to keep your iron door looking its best.
  • Remove any surface dust by using an air blower or soft rag.
  • Create a soapy mixture with a mild detergent (Dawn or a similar product).
  • Wash with a soft rag or sponge.
  • Rinse with clean water.
  • Oil hinges as needed to maintain easy use.
